Most of us have been to enough networking events to know what does not work. The small talk that goes nowhere or the business cards you collect and never follow up on. The exhausting performance of trying to seem interesting to strangers for two hours.
Elissa Denton is a licensed clinical social worker who brings a research-informed approach to something most of us have been doing wrong. She studies how humans connect and collaborate, and she is bringing that into the room at our August mixer.
Here is what she calls it: the Original AI. Ancient Intelligence. The deeply wired, time-tested human capacity to connect, collaborate, and create together. Long before algorithms and artificial intelligence, humans figured out how to build real relationships that lasted. We are still wired for it. We just need to practice it.
You will leave with new skills and real connections, not a handful of business cards you will never follow up on. Elissa is going to show us how to actually do this, in a way that feels human, not transactional.
Come ready to connect!
Most of us can name the next move. The harder thing is understanding what keeps getting in the way of actually taking it.
Maybe it's the voice questioning whether you're ready. Maybe it's the old story that surfaces when you walk into a room full of people you want to impress. For many women, it shows up as procrastination, overthinking, perfectionism, or that stop-start rhythm where you're all in one week and stuck the next. We often blame timing, circumstances, or lack of resources, when something deeper has been quietly shaping our decisions for years.
This month, Dr. Kim Freeze will help you identify what you've been carrying.
Kim is a clinical psychologist, lifelong entrepreneur, and founder of Launch Pad Studio. Long before she earned a doctorate, she was launching businesses, taking risks, failing, learning, and starting again. Her work sits at the intersection of entrepreneurship, mental health, resilience, and community building, with a particular passion for supporting women founders and those creating something meaningful from the ground up.
Rather than focusing only on business strategy, Kim helps people understand the human behind the business, the fears, beliefs, patterns, and strengths that influence every decision we make. Her approach is practical, honest, and rooted in real-world experience.
We'll be gathering at Launch Pad Studio, Grants Pass' newest coworking, makerspace, and entrepreneurial hub. The studio offers flexible drop-in workspace, workshops, mentorship, creative programming, business support, and a licensed commercial kitchen designed to help entrepreneurs turn ideas into action.
Come connect with fellow entrepreneurs, creators, and community members and discover what you've been carrying, and what might finally be ready to let go.
We talk a lot about strategy, relationships, and the rooms you are in. We do not talk nearly enough about the thing that makes all of it possible: your body.
Lu Crenshaw and Shantell Dayton are the co-founders of Dropgym in Medford and have spent years coaching women through the connection between physical health and everything else. How you feel in your body affects how you think, how you decide, how you lead, and how you show up for the business you are building. Most women in business know this is true and do almost nothing about it.
This conversation is going to change that.
Lu and Shantell will talk about what they have seen in decades of working with women, lead the room through a short breathwork exercise you can use anywhere, and give you practical tools to start reconnecting with your body in a way that supports your work.
Come ready to feel something shift.
Our May Mixer is a panel for the woman who's been sitting on something she already knows she needs to do. You'll hear real stories from women who left stable careers, rebuilt after things fell apart, and made decisions they weren't sure they could pull off.
We’re not sharing the version we tell at dinner parties. This version includes the sleepless nights, real doubts, and the moments where it genuinely could have gone the other way.
Dr. Lucy Houghton, executive leadership coach, will also be in the room. She works specifically with leaders on building the kind of courage that holds up under pressure, not just when things are going well.
If you've been waiting until it feels safe, this is the conversation you need right now.
